Last year the National Heritage Ironwork Group held an 4 day Festival of Ironwork in Bath called BathIRON. The event was a spectacular coming together of hundreds of blacksmiths to live forge a gift for the city of Bath. The teams wanted to inspire and leave a legacy that raised awareness of the importance of the fast disappearing heritage skill of the blacksmith.
Now all the amazing ironwork that was created during that 4 day event is coming together, it is near completion and almost ready for installation. We are having a volunteers painting party to get the notes painted this weekend at Ironart of Bath and then we are having a final celebration of the whole project, called FireFOLK on 26th May around the bandstand where the balustrade will be installed in Parade Gardens, Bath in all it’s glory!
We welcome you to join us at FireFOLK which will be a micro folk festival with local folk bands playing on the bandstand, live forging all evening, bar, local food stalls and an auction of hand forged musical themed objects made during BathIRON and by blacksmiths during the evening of FireFOLK.
